Crane girls basketball posted a 15-8 record last year. The Lady Pirates will look to keep that success going behind three senior leaders in Gracie Brawley, Danielle Cutbirth and Emrey Ellingsworth.

Brawley is a guard who earned second-team all-conference honors last season. She averaged 9.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.8 steals per game last year.

Cutbirth was named honorable mention all-conference as a junior. She contributed 7.3 points, 3.2 assists, 3 rebounds and 2.9 steals per game.

Ellingsworth is the team’s top returning rebounder. She averaged 5.4 rebounds to go with 5.8 points per game.

Lilly McMenamy (junior guard), Morgan Cleveland (junior post), Kailey Vaught (sophomore guard) and Gracie Rich (sophomore guard) round out the returning players. Vaught led that group in scoring last year with 6.1 points per game over her 19 varsity games played.

A quintet of freshmen in Sayd Vaught (guard), Lily Woodward (post), Allie Frieze (post), Lorene Mease (post) and Hunter Cleveland (post) will look to make an immediate varsity impact.

Crane will host East Newton, Pierce City and Forsyth for a jamboree on Nov. 16. The Lady Pirates open the regular season on Nov. 22 at Ash Grove.

“The expectations for the Lady pirates this season will be to work hard at improving our fundamental skill sets and showing up with good attitudes every day,” Crane head coach Jeremy Mullins said.
