Lawson Beem, Skyline Senior

Few quarterbacks in the area are as experienced as Beem, who is entering his third year as a starter. As a junior the All-State selection threw for 2,717 yards and 31 touchdowns, adding six more on the ground. Beem has orchestrated 16 40-point games in the last two seasons.

Bryant Bull, Marshfield Junior

Bull is one of the most physically gifted quarterbacks in Missouri, regardless of class. At 6-foot-4, he’s a long, athletic pocket passer that can also beat you with his legs. He passed for 1,324 yards and 13 touchdowns. This year he’ll be the guy for Marshfield and could flirt with Blayne Armstrong numbers.

Caden Burks, Parkview Senior

Burks is also entering his third season as a starter, but his season was cut in half last year due to COVID. With that being said, his skillset is still extremely unique. His arm talent is undeniable and at 6-foot-2, 215 pounds he’s built like a man. In the Green & Gold Game he showed off his ability to run more than he had in any other year. Look for Burks to have a resurgent 2021 in Ben Dougherty’s offense.

Wil Carlton, Marionville Junior

One of the most productive defensive backs in the area last season (8 interceptions) but his quarterbacking is what made Marionville elite. Carlton passed for 1,668 yards and 21 touchdowns (694 rushing yards, 8 TDs), completing 72% of his passes with just three interceptions. Also a basketball standout, Carlton will receive heavy college interest in both sports.

Dagen Kenslow, West Plains Senior

Kenslow proved himself as a true dual-threat quarterback, passing for 1,423 yards and 14 touchdowns while adding another 1,053 yards on the ground with 15 touchdowns. He added 67 tackles and 10 PBUs defensively from his position in the secondary.

Cole Martin, McDonald County Senior

McDonald County has resurrected its football program and Martin has been the catalyst for it all. Keep in mind, McDonald County won 11 games from 2013-18. The Mustangs went 5-5 last year with a win over Lamar and should have the program’s first season above .500 in more than a decade. His command of the offense is why, with him passing for 1,361 yards and 16 touchdowns while completing 64 percent of his passes.

JJ O’Neal, Rogersville Senior

The best way to describe him is as a pure football player. As a junior he threw for 1,358 yards and added another 1,144 rushing with 22 total touchdowns. He added 40 tackles and a pair of interceptions defensively, and in the open field he’s elite (3 kick return touchdowns). He was an All-State and All-Big 8 selection.

Kody Stayce, Fair Grove Senior

Fair Grove has been churning out quarterbacks like clockwork lately with the previous three all passing for at least 2,500 yards. Stayce “only” passed for 2,063 yards with 25 touchdowns, but added another 1,257 rushing yards with 14 touchdowns. He’s the only returning 2,000-1,000 quarterback in the Ozarks.

Tyler Watts, MV-BT/Liberty Senior

Watts is the next in a long line of game-breaking quarterbacks at Liberty. Some have been runners, some have been pocket passers and some have been dual-threats. Watts is a dual-threat, passing for 1,873 yards (22 TDs) and rushing for 1,059 yards (10 TDs). The All-SCA and All-Region pick is due for a monster senior year.

Always Wright, Joplin Senior

He might be the best basketball player in the Ozarks, receiving heavy D1 interest and an offer from South Alabama. In his first season taking over for Blake Tash – in what should have been a rebuilding year – Wright led Joplin to a 6-5 season with 2,102 yards and 16 touchdowns last year. That includes a win over rival Webb City.
