The Glendale football team returns some big talent this year, Cooper Roy on defense and Chris Floyd on offense.

“I’ve had the opportunity to coach a lot of really good receivers in my long tenure as a head football coach, and Chris is up there, might even be the best one we’ve ever had,” said Falcons head coach Mike Mauk.

Chris Floyd enters his senior year as one of the team’s top offensive weapons.

“I think I’m best at making plays after I catch the ball, you know, getting up field, turning up field, either breaking tackles making touchdowns, I think that’s my specialty,” Floyd said.

“A lot of times you’ll see him make great plays as a receiver catching the ball, but oftentimes you know he’s the guy that makes a key block for the other guys to get open or to make a great play themselves,” Mauk said.

Floyd’s gotten some interest from college coaches but no offer just yet.

“No one’s pulled the trigger yet, unfortunately, but I took a visit to Missouri State, I’ve had a D-I from Minnesota call me and talk to me a lot, A D-I from Louisiana, you know, talk to me, calling me,” said Floyd.

And Cooper Roy is a defensive outside linebacker who holds the season sack record for the state of Missouri, with 26 in his junior year.

“It means a lot but just playing with my teammates and they all made it happen I couldn’t do without them. I’m not one person,” Roy said.

Week seven of last season, Roy got his first offer from Kansas, but that was just the first of many.

“I have 12 Division-I offers right now. I got a lot of interest from Army, Tulane, and NIU and I visited Missouri State, and Nebraska,” Roy said.

“I think it’s his quickness his gets off the ball extremely well,” Mauk said.

For Bears fans hoping to see Cooper in maroon and white, the wait maybe a while.

“I don’t want to commit really anytime soon but just want to see how everything turns out,” said Roy.

We don’t know where these Falcons will land in college, but Glendale is just happy to have them this fall.
