There have been so many memorable sports moments in Springfield the last few decades, and Marty Marsh has seen it all in his 27 year career in Springfield Public Schools. But now, he’s on to something new.

“My time in Springfield in and of itself has been an honor, and truly a blessing,” Marsh said.

When Marty marsh looks back on his time in Springfield, a number of things come to mind.

“I will always be a fan of the Tournament of Champions and the Pink and White Lady Classic, those will be events I will always be a fan of,” said Marsh.

His 27 year career in Springfield Public Schools started as a teacher and coach, then he became an administrator, and later the assistant athletic director of SPS.

“Having been in Springfield for 49 years of my life, and having worked in Springfield for 27 of those years, yes, it was a very difficult decision. It was a decision that a lot of thought and a lot of preparation went into,” said Marsh.

and now he’s on to his next adventure.

“I’m going to Missouri State High School Activities Association as an Assistant Executive Director. In that role I’ll be working with four different sports,” Marsh said.

As much as Marty has impacted Springfield Public Schools, Springfield Public Schools have impacted him.

“The Springfield sports scene has meant everything to me. It’s what I’ve devoted my entire life to and something I’m very very proud of. I feel like we do things right in southwest Missouri. Hopefully I’ll get to take some of the lessons and some of the things I’ve learned here and share those throughout the state, and help lead athletic programs throughout the state as well,” said Marsh.
