With the State Wrestling Tournament starting next week, there’s one girl repping Springfield Public Schools; Central’s Catherine Dutton.

“She does she puts it all out there on the mat,” said Bulldogs assistant coach Connar Loderhose.

Central’s Catherine Dutton has been wrestling in the Bulldogs program since middle school.
“There was, I think maybe like two other girls maybe there’s a lot more there now,” Dutton said.
And as the sport has grown for girls in Missouri, she has grown with it.
“She’s a lot taller than most girls she’s wrestling, and that length can help in matches with leverage and just certain positions you get into,” Loderhose said.
“I try to stick to the basics that I tend to work. I’ll try and like, like if I know I have like an easier match it sounds really bad but I’m out there and I’ll try new things to see if that’ll work for me,” said Dutton.
As only a sophomore Catherine is dominating her competition.
“It was like we will go out there, I’m going to get her Well, no, I’m going to get you. I’m winning this I’ve worked for it,” Dutton said.
And nothing is going to distract her from her goal of a state title.
We had a tough loss at sectionals so I think the brakes good for us, it’s going to let us recoup re-gather and kind of just kind of touch up some fine detail things you need to work on so that by the time we get to the state tournament we’re ready to go get get the state title,” Loderhose said.
