Ash Grove wins first district title since 2014

The No. 2 Ash Grove girls beat No. 5 seed Marionville 57-22 to win the Class 3 District 11 title. It is the program’s first district title since 2014 when the Lady Pirates finished as the state runner-up in Class 3.
Ash Grove started fast against Marionville jumping out to a 17-6 lead after one quarter and a 35-14 advantage at the half.
Emma Eagleburger (30) led all scorers with a game-high 17 points for Ash Grove.
Missouri State commit Khloe Moad (23) was just behind Eagleburger with 16 points. All of her scoring came in the first three quarters.
Emma McClelland (5) was Ash Grove’s third player in double figures with 12 points. All of her points came on 3-point shots. Ash Grove hit five three-pointers as a team, and McClelland had four of them.
Marionville finished the season with a 12-14 overall record. The Lady Comets upset No. 4 seed Pleasant Hope and No. 1 seed Clever just to get to this game.
Ash Grove improved to 18-10 overall with the win. The Lady Pirates will play the winner of Class 3 District 12 (Miller or Sarcoxie) in the state sectional round on Wednesday, Mar. 3.
