Warsaw girls basketball will be a young team this year with no seniors on the roster coming off a five-win season last year.

While young, Warsaw does return four starters in juniors Taylor Howe, Karlie Jones and Mira Segar along with sophomore Ashley Spry. Howe was the second-leading scorer last year at 7.4 points per game. Segar and Jones were the second-leading rebounders at 4.6 per game.

Sophomore Ashlyn Laue saw some varsity action last year. She will be a starter this year. Sophomores Jazzmyn Swisher and Ellie Murrell along with freshman Rachel Henderson will be key bench players.

“The dynamic on the team is completely different this season,” coach Charlotte Beck said. “Even though we return four starters none were stat leaders. All could be on any given night though, so it’ll be interesting to see who steps up.”

Warsaw opens the season Nov. 30 through Dec. 5 at its home tournament.

“If the girls have confidence in their ability, I think we can improve over last year’s 5-19 finish,” Beck said.
