Golden City will look to climb back above .500 after going 8-19-2 overall last year. The Eagles have the pieces in place to do just that with five returning players from last year’s varsity team including both all-conference selections in senior Gracee Singer and junior Brooke Beerly.

Singer, who was named honorable mention all-conference, returns to the middle. Beerly, who was named second-team all-conference, will play on the left side.

Jolee Rector (junior middle), Kyndall Scott (sophomore setter) and Maggie Reed (sophomore left side) round out the returning players.

Sophomore Ahree Lutes (opposite) and freshmen Kylee Scott (libero/defensive specialist) and Olivia Force (libero/defensive specialist) will be newcomers to watch for Golden City.

“We have new coaches working together with a great group of girls. They work hard and we are expecting to have a better record than last year,” Golden City head coach Karen Longan said. “We are working on specific areas where we fell short last year. We have some good hitters and a couple of freshmen coming up that will help out our defense.”

Golden City opens the season on Aug. 28 at Niangua before heading to Verona for the Verona Invitational on Aug. 29.
