Charlie Roder and Zach Dillman don’t know much about Springfield just yet, but come fall Springfield will become their second home.

“Yeah I’m sure we will be hanging out every once in a while,“ Roder said.

Charlie signed with Drury as a pitcher.

“I just really loved the coaches, and I love the field it’s a pretty cool field. The schools obviously great so it made my decision pretty easy,“ said Roder.

While Zach will be right down the road playing at Missouri State.

“I think Coach Keith is planning on me pitching and catching primarily. I think it mostly depends on the fall which one. He’s told me if I have to choose it’ll probably be catching just because of team need and all of that,” said Dillman.

With players returning because of COVID-19 play time is uncertain, but amidst all of the unknown there’s also some familiarity.

“With Logan Geha coming back I think he’s going to be a sixth year. He went to the same high school as me, so I figured me and him would connect a little more than maybe me and some of the other catchers. But, I just see it as more competition, more reason to get better,“ Dillman said.

He has a fellow Lee’s Summit West grad to connect with behind the plate.

“Yeah, I’m one hundred percent certain I’ll learn from him. The catcher before him also went to my high school, and I’ve been working with him catching wise so that’s pretty cool,“ said Dillman.

Right now Zach and Charlie are on the same team, getting better this summer, before starting their college careers here in Springfield.
