2020 All-O-Zone Boys Basketball Team

The All O-Zone Boys Basketball team as voted on by the KY3 & OzarksSportsZone.com staff has been released. There are more than 100 boys basketball teams in the area, which makes this list extremely difficult to narrow down to 20. Below are this year’s top 20 players in a first-team, second-team and honorable mention. Each team is in alphabetical order after the Player of the Year Aminu Mohammed.

First Team

Player of the Year: Aminu Mohammed – Greenwood

STATS: 34.8 ppg, 15.7 rpg
HONORS: Class 2 Player of the Year
Mohammed re-wrote the record books at both the Blue & Gold Tournament and Bass Pro Tournament of Champions this year. He led the Blue Jays to their first Blue & Gold Championship in 74 years of hosting the tournament. He set the single-game scoring record (49 points), tournament scoring record (155) and most field goals made in a Blue & Gold tournament record (57). In the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions, Mohammed helped Greenwood become just the second area team to win a game in the tournament since 2013. Against some of the nation’s best competition in one of the most storied high school basketball tournaments in the nation, Mohammed set the single game rebounding record (23) and tournament rebounding record (52). He also became just the fifth player in tournament history to score 100 combined points in three games at the T of C. His game-high 38 points against Christ the King in the fifth place game was the 12th-most points in a single game. The Blue Jays fell short of the Class 2 final four with a quarterfinal loss to eventual state champion Hartville, but Mohammed was unquestionably the most dominant player in southwest Missouri.

Anton Brookshire – Kickapoo

STATS: 20.5 ppg, 4 rpg, 3.3 apg, 2.2 spg, 45% FG
HONORS: Class 5 All-State, First-Team All-Ozark Conference
Brookshire, who holds multiple Division I offers, continues to be one of the best guards in the area. He got his first chance to play in the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions and put on a show. He scored 33 points against nationally ranked Oak Hill Academy to open the tournament. He dropped 20 and 18 points in his final two games of the tournament for a 71-point effort over three games. He got better as the season went on by leading Kickapoo to a berth in the Class 5 final four before the state tournament was canceled due to COVID-19.

Isaac Haney – Dora

STATS: 31 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 2.5 apg, 114 three-point makes, 53.3% FG
HONORS: Class 1 Player of the Year
Few players in the area get buckets at the level of Isaac Haney. The Missouri State commit loves the spotlight as he and the Falcons played in front of multiple crowds larger than 2,000 this year and he rarely disappointed. The Class 1 Player of the Year led the Falcons to the program’s first state championship. He averaged 31 points per game and knocked down 114 3-point shots while making 53% of his shots from the field.

Terrell Kabala – Webb City

STATS: 15.1 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 2.7 apg, 1.5 spg, 50% FG
HONORS: Class 4 All-State, COC Player of the Year
Terrell Kabala was a consistent presence for a Webb City team that made a run to the Class 4 state quarterfinals. The Arkansas-Ft. Smith signee averaged 15.1 points per game while shooting 50% from the field. He was named the Player of the Year in the COC, the area’s best boys basketball conference, for his efforts.

Quenton Shelton – Lebanon

STATS: 25.8 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 2.1 apg, 1.3 spg, 53% FG, 42% 3-FG
HONORS: Class 5 All-State, Ozark Conference Player of the Year
Quenton Shelton has been a force for Lebanon for several years, but he saved his best for last averaging almost 26 points per game while shooting 53% from the field. He helped the Yellowjackets to a second place finish in the Ozark Conference and was named conference player of the year in addition to Class 5 All-State.

Second Team

Daniel Abreu – Willard

STATS: 25.6 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1.6 spg, 57.7% FG
HONORS: Class 5 All-State

Cade Blevins – Rogersville

STATS: 15.4 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.4 apg, 54 made 3-point shots
HONORS: Class 4 All-State, Big 8 East Player of the Year

Andrew Dalton – Ava

STATS: 24.2 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 3.2 spg, 2.8 apg, 63% FG
HONORS: Class 3 All-State, SCA Player of the Year

Dalton Gayman – Nevada

STATS: 21.2 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1.5 spg, 1.1 bpg, 57% FG, 44% 3-FG
HONORS: Big 8 West Player of the Year

Ryce Piper – Hartville

STATS: 18 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 3.1 apg, 1.4 spg, 49% FG
HONORS: Class 2 All-State, First-Team All-Summit Conference

Honorable Mention

Dax Beem – Skyline

STATS: 19.1 ppg, 3.1 apg, 2.7 rpg, 47.6% FG, 82 made 3-pointers
HONORS: Class 2 All-State, First-Team All-Mid-Lakes

Tyler Campbell – Crane

STATS: 18.8 ppg, 3.3 apg, 3.1 rpg, 2.6 spg, 40% FG
HONORS: Class 2 All-State, SWCL Player of the Year

Isaiah Davis – Joplin

STATS: 13.6 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1.6 spg, 58.1% FG
HONORS: First-Team All-COC

AJ Elliott – Ozark

STATS: 15.6 ppg, 10.5 rpg, 1.7 apg, 1.6 bpg, 51.8% FG
HONORS: Class 5 All-State, First-Team All-COC

Ethan Fagre – Richland

STATS: 27 ppg, 9 rpg, 5 apg, 3 spg, 1 bpg, 49% FG 65 3-pointers made
HONORS: Class 2 All-State

Hunter Lane – Macks Creek

STATS: 26 ppg, 16.9 rpg, 3.3 bpg, 2.6 apg, 2.2 spg 55% FG
HONORS: Class 1 All-State, First-Team All-Polk County League

David Oplotnik – Fair Grove

STATS: 16.4 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.8 spg, 67 made 3-pointers

Arlo Stump – Golden City
