Plato girls basketball has a first-time head basketball coach in Angela Barton. Barton has 26 years of coaching experience, but it has come in volleyball. She took over as head coach for the Plato girls early in November.

The Plato girls finished 13-15 last year and graduated four seniors including Allison Hall who led the Lady Eagles in points (13.4 ppg), rebounds (7.0 rpg) and assists (2.3 apg).

Kelsey Todd will lead Plato this year after averaging 11.6 ppg and 3.8 rpg as a freshman. She earned all-district honors for her efforts.

Kennedy Hall returns to the point guard position as a senior. She averaged 6.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game last year.

The sophomore duo of Cara Couch and Ramsey Crews should make a varsity impact this year.

“We are a young team with some talented players. I believe to be successful we will have to use the strengths of the experienced players to bring along and encourage the ones coming up,” Barton said.

Plato opens the season on Nov. 25 at home against Salem.
