Rogersville advances to Class 3 state title match

Rogersville volleyball is heading back to the Class 3 state title match after going 5-1 in pool play on Friday.

The Lady Wildcats opened the day with a 25-18 win over St. Francis Borgia before falling in the second set 25-18.

“We struggled a little bit in that second set; we didn’t play the best we could play, so we are looking forward to tomorrow. The regrouped after that loss and had a great next four sets,” Rogersville head coach Tammy Miller said.

Those next four sets saw Rogersville beat Windsor (Imperial) 25-12, 25-8 and St. Michael the Archangel 25-23 and 25-14.

Birdie Hendrickson led the Rogersville attack with 30 kills in the six sets. Claire Taylor added 20 kills of her own. Samantha Thompson chipped in 64 assists.

Rogersville will face Borgia for the Class 3 state championship at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
