Indoor facility helps Harrison year-round

One and a half million dollars of community-raised money goes a long way toward helping Harrison sports.

“Our track team, our boys and girls soccer teams, our cross country teams, visiting football teams, officials,” said Harrison Athletic Director Chris Pratt.

And it helps the community in general.

“We’ll have senior Olympics, special Olympics, band comes down here and practices. Project graduation, which is an overnight event after graduation night. A multi-use facility for sure,” Pratt said.

But, of course, it helps Football — The Goblins have had a great season so far, and last season the team made it all the way to the state’s semi-finals.

“The team aspect of it when everybody works together as a team and we win, it’s just the best feeling,” said Goblins’ linebacker and full back Brooks Both.

And the Cash Center definitely lends them a helping hand to get the W.

“We wouldn’t get outside much in December and January, and our off season wouldn’t be as much fun if we didn’t have a facility like this,” Pratt said.

The Harrison athletic director says the building itself is more than 10 years old, but the turf was just added a couple months ago. And inside the facility holds many memories for both the students and the coaches.

“There’s no rain outs. There’s no snow outs. There’s no too cold or too hot. I just think of all the bad weather days that we usually would’ve canceled practice,” said Pratt.

The building has everything from a weight room to offices where the coaches and directors can meet, and it also brings all those teams together under one roof.

“We can come in here and get some work done. I think over the years it benefited our programs, and we’ve been pretty successful in most every sport because of this facility,” Pratt said.
