Fall 2019 Preview: Sparta Volleyball

Sparta volleyball has a good mix of experienced upperclassmen and deep group of underclassmen this season.

Leading the way will be seniors McKenzie Roller and Jadrien Hyatt.

Roller, who earned second-team all-district honors last season, returns to her spot as a middle hitter.

“Each year we have seen her step up into her role as a great blocker as well as increasing her kills,” Sparta head coach Nicole Humble said.

Jadrien Hyatt was a first-team all-district and honorable mention all-conference performer last season. She will settle in as a setter this year.

“We are looking forward to (her) having a tremendous year. Jadrien is an extremely versatile player, she thrives at the net but has great hands to be a successful setter,” Humble said.

Kacey Pearman, Alyssa Diers, Maggie Brow and Sierra Schneider round out the six-player senior class for Sparta.

“Each of them bring positive things to the team such as consistency, high serving percentages, and team leaders,” Humble said.

These seniors will be backed up by a deep group of underclassmen with nine sophomores and 10 freshmen on the roster for Sparta this season.

“With a very successful middle school season, the freshmen are going to bring some excitement to the court during practice, as well as, the games,” Humble said. “These girls are going to push everyone past their comfort zones to improve and with that I see great things happening for Sparta Volleyball this season.”

Humble will look for her team to come together to compete for conference and district titles.

“Success can be measured in so many ways. I first and foremost want the girls to enjoy the game, become a team family and in the record books – a successful season for us will be a finish at or near the top of our conference and a district title,” Humble said.

Sparta will host Blue Eye, Chadwick and Conway for a jamboree on Aug. 27 before opening the regular season on Sept. 5 at home against Ava.
