FIRST TEAM

Aminu Mohammed – Greenwood (Player of the Year)

Mohammed as the Player of the Year was one of the easiest decisions we have had in the time we have been doing this team. The five star 2021 recruit’s stat line was ridiculous with 34.2 points and 17.3 rebounds per game. He scored 1,059 points this year alone. No player in the state received as much attention from opposing teams as Mohammed and it didn’t matter as he rose to the occasion each game out. Last year, Greenwood won seven games. This year the Blue Jays won 29 games and a Class 2 State Championship. He was named Gatorade Player of the Year and the Class 2 Player of the Year.
STATS: 34.2 PPG, 17.3 RPG, 2.7 SPG, 1.5 BPG, 53.8% FG. 1,059 total points

Daniel Abreu – Willard

Abreu made a leap this year going from a very good player his sophomore year to on the short list for the area’s best player as a junior. Anyone who hadn’t heard about him at the start of December knew his name by the end after he set the four-game scoring record in the Blue & Gold Tournament with 125 points over the course of the tournament. The COC Player of the Year and Class 5 All-State selection was the area’s top scorer on a per-game average with 30 points per game to go with 8.6 rebounds per game. Abreu is also a threat from the perimeter as evidenced by his 45% mark from three-point range.
STATS: 30 ppg, 8.6 RPG, 2.9 APG, 1.6 SPG, 57.5% FG, 45.1% 3PFG, 85.6 FT%

Jake Branham – Catholic

There wasn’t a point guard in southwest Missouri that commanded his team better than Branham this year. The Irish played a tough schedule all year that included the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions. In the second round of the Bass Pro T of C, Branham put up 24 points against eventual Illinois State Champion Belleville West. In the Class 3 state championship game against arguably the state’s best team in Vashon, Branham was good for 25 points. Branham consistently rose to the occasion when his team needed him which is a big reason why the Irish posted a 29-4 record this year with three of those four losses coming to state champions.
STATS: 19.3 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 2.4 APG, 1.8 SPG, 54.1% FG, 42.1% 3PFG, 77.4 FT

Anton Brookshire – Kickapoo

Brookshire continued his rise as one of the area’s brightest stars this year. He was named the Ozark Conference Player of the Year and Class 5 All-State in his sophomore season. The Kickapoo guard was one of only two underclassmen to earn all-state honors in either of the state’s two largest classifications. He filled it up with 19 points, 5.8 rebounds. 4.6 assists and 2.2 steals per game to lead the Chiefs. Brookshire is also incredibly efficient from the field with a 55% clip from the field and 50% shooting percentage from three.
STATS: 19 ppg, 5.8 RPG, 4.6 APG, 2.2 SPG, 55% FG, 50% 3PFG, 85% FT

Isaac Haney – Dora

Few players in southwest Missouri can score the ball like Haney. The Class 1 Player of the Year scored 27.7 points per game as he helped lead Dora to a state runner-up finish in Class 1. Haney may be a Class 1 player, but his scoring ability translates to any gym, and that is why he is getting looks from Division I programs. The sophomore also gets in done defensively with an average of 3.2 steals per game.
STATS: 27.7 PPG, 4 RPG, 3.2 SPG, 1.6 APG
