Clever softball will be looking to improve on last year’s three-win campaign in coach Cheryl Grant’s seventh season as head coach.
The Lady Blue Jays have a good starting point will three all-conference players returning this season.
That returning group are all seniors in Ashten Graaf, Abi Menzies and Harper Little. Graaf, a first-team all-conference catcher, hit .407 last year. Menzies, a first-team all-conference outfielder, led the team with a .529 batting average. Little, a second-team all-conference infielder, hit .304 in her junior season.

Clever will have youth in the circle with freshman Kylie Wenger and sophomore Sierra Atkins serving as the primary pitchers. Little will be joined on the infield by Kenna Wise (freshman) and Cara Brown (senior). Grace Gundelfinger will be a key outfielder in her junior season.
Overall, Grant is just seeking improvement for her team this year.
“We have some freshman talent that will add to our depth this season. Also returning players that will be able to offer leadership. Overall our goal is make improvements and continue to work hard and increase our wins from the previous year,” Grant said.
Clever joins the Mid-Lakes Conference this season, which features two-time defending state champion Strafford. The Lady Blue Jays open the season on Mar. 16 in the Strafford Tournament.
