Recent Aurora graduate Wyatt Sparks has been selected by the Texas Rangers in the 23rd round (689th overall). The Missouri State signee was the area’s best pitcher this season. He was nearly unhittable this season, winning sectionals, quarterfinals and the semifinal game in Aurora’s state championship run. The six-foot-two, 185-pound righty went 11-1 with a .933 ERA and 143 strikeouts in 75 innings. He also hit .357 at the plate.
