The Seymour boys must replace their leading scorer and team leader in Cy Yates this season, but the Tigers have several players ready to step up in his wake.

Seymour returns five players that averaged between 5.5 and 9.5 points per game last season.

That group is led by a stellar class of four juniors in Justin Herion, Eric Helms, Brian Pearce and Brady Brooke. Herion, the team’s top ball handler, averaged 8.6 points, 2.4 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game last year. Helms is one of the team’s best playmakers and leading returning scorer after averaging 9.5 points per game last year. Pearce is a strong shooter who averaged 8.5 points per game last year. Brooke, who can guard all five positions, returns after averaging 6.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game last year.

Sophomore Trent Sampson is the final returner after he averaged 5.5 points and 4.2 rebounds per game last season.

Senior Keaton Owens along with juniors Ryan Johnson, Keaton Owens and Truman Hosiner along with sophomore Carson Studerfant will be newcomers to watch this season.

“I’m really looking forward to this season. We have our core group of guys back from last year. This is a very talented group that has potential to do special things,” head coach Chris Hastings said. “We are going to be small, but hope to use our speed and the ability to shoot the ball to our advantage. We will only be losing one player to graduations so it’s exciting to have the same group of guys for two years.”

Seymour opens the season on Nov. 17 at Bradleyville.
