Trust the Process. It’s a slogan that’s become more prominent these days thanks to the Philadelphia 76ers. And it’s a saying that Jeff Mason is applying to the softball program in Glendale. A program that’s still trying to find itself, but making progress in doing so.
The Falcons were winless last season for the second time in three years and haven’t won more than four games in a season this decade, but interest in the program is climbing, which is good news at a school with a pretty darn good history of athletic student-athletes.

“We’ve had a great showing this summer at workouts on the field and in the weight room,” Mason said. “We now have many multi-sport athletes that truly understand what it means to put in hard work and compete. We’re moving in the right direction, however, it is a process the girls will need to trust.”
Another good sign is the Falcons may at least have a foundation for increased consistency going forward in freshman pitcher Maggie Skyles, who’s already projecting as a clear No. 1 and a top-of-the-order bat for the next four years.
“We are a very young group at the moment,” Mason said. “Our expectations are to be able to compete with the area schools.”
The Falcons will also lean on sophomore shortstop Kyndall Phillips offensively and in the field. Mason called Phillips Glendale’s most skilled player and will be the team’s defensive captain this fall.
“We are looking to put together competitive at-bats and looking to make the routine plays in the field, which should inevitably lead to more wins and success all around.”
