Sean Nevills enters his second season as the head coach of the Central Bulldogs. Central finished 0-10 in 2016, but the Bulldogs return many players from a young team in 2017.

Danny Adams will trigger the offense at quarterback. Adams returns for his senior season after starting as a junior.

“Our offense starts with (senior) Danny Adams, our quarterback. He knows his job is to make the reads when his passes, and when I call his number to run, he’s got to run,” Nevills said.

He will share the backfield with a rotating cast of players as Central will handle the running game by committee.

“Running back wise, it’s by committee. We’re going to see what we have. We’ve still have guys rotating in and out. Nobody’s stepped up yet. I’m calling out that group, but nobody has shown me what they’re about yet,” Nevills said at the Branson team camp in late July. “Running back is the number one spot. Who is going to be our running back? Who can we trust to hand the ball to and also work in the passing game.”

Anthony Snuffer will be a two-way player for the Bulldogs at wide receiver and defensive back.

Austin McClary will lead the way on the offensive and defensive lines after starting both ways last year. The Bulldogs will need his leadership and experience with an otherwise young line.

“We’re young. We’re young like we were last year. Last year we had to start a couple freshmen. Now those freshmen are sophomores and they know I expect a lot better,” Nevills said.

Central opens the season on Aug. 18 at Rogersville.
