Glendale, Webb City Crowned At OC/COC Swim Championships

Springfield, Mo. — Glendale (443 points) and Webb City (314 points) won the Ozark Conference and Central Ozark Conference swim championships Friday at the John H. Foster Natatorium.

On the OC side of the meet, Kickapoo (320 points) finished second to Glendale. Ozark (254.5 points) finished second to Webb City on the COC side.

Rogersville freshman Cabrini Johnson and Kickapoo senior Krystal Caylor both won two individual events. Caylor, who recently committed to the University of Indianapolis, won the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard breaststroke. Johnson took first in the 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle.

Four new state qualifying times were met Friday while four meet records and one conference record were broken. Plus, some history was made:

Below is an event-by-event rundown of the day’s top finishers. (All times via Meet Mobile).

200-yard Medley Relay
Kickapoo’s 200-yard medley relay team of Alison Pool, Krystal Caylor, Kayla Herron and Mariah Alberty took first overall, finishing in 1:55.93 and dropping 1.08 off their seed time. Glendale’s relay team took second.

Webb City dropped a massive 9.16 seconds off its seed time, winning the COC and finishing third overall (1:57.71) with the team of Hannah Baker, Sydnie Storm, Mary Bean and Samantha Stoll qualifying for state and setting a new COC record in the event.

200-yard Freestyle
Cabrini Johnson (Rogersville) won the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.95) for the meet and the COC.

Parkview’s Audry Duchscherer took the OC title (2:02.47), followed by Glendale’s Maddie Duncan (2:02.79).

200-yard IM
The 200-yard IM was won by Abby Margreiter (Glendale/OC) in 2:20.77.

Ozark’s Chloe Nelson took second (2:21.06), winning the COC. Glendale’s Ashley Baldwin finished third overall (2:23.30).

50-yard Freestyle
Bean (Webb City) had a good showing in one of her specialty events, taking first overall and the COC title with a time of 25.18 and setting a meet record.

Kickapoo’s Herron won the OC (25.21), finishing just behind Bean. If not for Bean’s time, Herron would have set the new meet record. Ozark’s Grace Scheer finished third overall (25.29) and qualified for state.

1-meter Diving


In the morning’s diving competition, Kickapoo freshman Chloe Cothern took first overall with a meet record 427.75, winning the OC. Cothern’s total also broke a 30-year old Kickapoo diving mark. Hillcrest’s Victoria Carder took second (375.70) and Kickapoo’s Kaitlyn Holland third (335.75).

Webb City’s Shyanne Thornburg took first in the COC (305.60), finishing fourth overall.

100-yard Butterfly
Caylor (Kickapoo) matched her seed time of 59.67 to win the 100-yard butterfly for the OC and the meet.

Nixa’s Olivia Stoneman won the COC with a time of 1:00.75. Bean (Webb City) took second in the COC and third overall (1:02.14)

100-yard Freestyle
Herron claimed her second individual OC title by taking the 100 free in 55.72.

Ozark’s Katie Vorhies finished second overall and first in the COC (57.09). Scheer (Ozark) touched just behind Vorhies (57.12).

500-yard Freestyle
Yet another meet record set in this one, this time by Rogersville’s Johnson. Johnson dropped 3.29 seconds off her seed time to win the event overall and for the COC in 5:19.56.

Glendale’s Audrey Mace took the OC title (5:39.24) and finished second overall. Alberty (Kickapoo) placed third overall (5:51.83).

200-yard Freestyle Relay
The OC crown and top time overall went to Glendale (1:43.23) and the team of Sam Rathjen, Duncan, Margreiter and Baldwin. Kickapoo’s Caylor, Paige Alexander, Pool and Herron finished second (1:44.22).

Ozark (Scheer, Ashley Mallonee, Nelson, Vorhies) won the OC title in the event, finishing third overall (1:45.24).

100-yard Backstroke
Olivia Stoneman (Nixa) won the COC title and took first overall with a time of 1:01.83.

Glendale’s Kaitlyn Palmer qualified for state with her first-place COC finish (1:02.32) and second overall. Duchscherer (Parkview) came in third overall (1:03.61).

100-yard Breaststroke
Caylor (Kickapoo) won her second individual event, taking the overall top time and the OC title (1:09.50). Glendale’s Danielle Robinson finished third overall (1:13.86)

Webb City’s Sydnie Storm took second overall and first in the COC (1:13.06), dropping 2.63 seconds off her seed time.

400-yard Freestyle Relay
Rogersville is sending Hailey Souter, Hope Strausbaugh, Elise Evans and Johnson to state after the four took first overall in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:53.86), dropping nearly 10 full seconds (-9.77) off their seed time.

The Glendale team of Mace, Palmer, Jessi Hicks and Duncan took the OC title (3:57.97). Ozark finished third overall (3:58.73).
