SPRINGFIELD — Alex Lomax hoisted a three at the buzzer to lift Memphis East (No. 2 USA TODAY) over Montverde Academy (No. 3 USA TODAY) 59-56 in the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions semifinal on Friday.
It marked the Mustangs’ second win over Montverde Academy in three meetings between the two in the last month. It also sets up a showdown with Sierra Canyon (No. 10 USA TODAY) in the final at 9 p.m. on Saturday.
Memphis East head coach and former NBA standout Penny Hardaway addressed his team in the locker room after the win.
