Six Evangel volleyball players earned Heart of America Athletic Conference honors Tuesday headlined by seniors Morgan Kensinger and Jackie Fugate who were named to the first team.
Kensinger, a native of Fair Grove earned her fourth first-team all-Heart honors and Fugate, an Ozark native, was a two-time second team selection grabbing her first team honors this season. The duo is joined by second team honoree, Sandy Mohr and honorable mention recipients, Allie Dunton-Moss, Jorie Garrett and Brianna Justis.
Kensinger finished the season second in the nation in blocks per game and was fifth in total blocks. She also set the career blocks record and holds single-season marks in the top during her final three seasons after earning . Fugate finished her career in the top 10 in kills as she averaged 2.39 kills per set in her final season.
Mohr made an immediate impact for the Crusaders as she finished the year ranked 18th in the nation in total blocks and also in the top 50 in blocks per set. A native of Muskego, Wisconsin, her 303 kills were second most for the Crusaders while posting a team-best, .247 hitting percentage.
Dunton-Moss finished with the third-most digs in a single-season at Evangel with 815 digs and finished the year ranked fourth in NAIA in total digs and eighth in digs per set. The Rogersville native also set the Evangel single-game record twice with 47 digs against College of the Ozarks and then again vs. conference foe, Clarke University.
Justis earned her second all-Heart honor as she led Evangel with 4.8 assists per set and totaled 661 assists. The Ozark native finished her career ranked ninth all-time in digs with 1,349 and seventh with a 3.08 digs per set average.
Garrett, a native of Ava, Mo., earned her first all-Heart honors after averaging 2.05 kills per set and posting a .135 hitting percentage.
Evangel finished the season 20-15 overall and 7-6 in Heart play. It marks the 14th consecutive season the Crusaders have reached 20 wins in a season under head coach Mary Whitehead.
