Games Invovling State Ranked Teams:
No. 3 Carl Junction 23, No. 1 Webb City 7 – FINAL
Want a Stat of the Day? This was the first time Carl Junction has beat Webb City since 1977. When THIS SONG that you've either never heard or don't remember existing topped the charts. Want another one few? Webb City had never lost a conference game in the COC-Large, had won 87 consecutive conference games and hadn't lost against a school from Missouri since 2003. CJ's defense hammered the Cardinals, forcing SEVEN turnovers (six fumble recoveries) that helped pad a 10-0 halftime lead and 16-7 lead after three. Webb seemed to be on the verge of flipping momentum after a 52-yard touchdown from Caleb Ensminger to Blake Catterson followed by a three-and-out on D, but a quick interception by the CJ defense ended that. The Bulldogs entered the third quarter up 16-7 and a 15-yard Rayquion Weston touchdown run with 9:31 left set the final.

Webb City stat leaders:
Cameron Baker: 15 carries, 55 yards
Caleb Ensminger: 12-21, 148 yards, TD

Carl Junction stat leaders:
Keaton Taber: 11-20, 179 yards, 2 TDs, 2 INTs
Rayquion Weston, 23 carries, 69 yards, TD
Aaron Ludders: 6 rec., 103 yards, TD
Dayton McIntosh: 3 rec., 61 yards, TD

No. 1 Lamar 50, Cassville 0 – FINAL
Lamar outscored opponents by 619 points last year and IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN. The Tigers put up 43 first-half points on their way to shutting out Cassville at home. Cassville's first pass of the season was picked off by Trey Mooney, Stuart McKarus tossed a touchdown to Mooney and the rout was on. Luke Hardman had a couple long touchdown runs in the first half in a game that was never in question.

No. 2 MV-BT/Liberty 39, No. 10 Cape Central 20 – FINAL
Very good opening win for the Eagles at home against a Cape Central team with a ton of speed. Kole Orchard gave Liberty an early 7-0 lead and was extremely effective on the ground and catching the football, finishing with 118 yards and two touchdowns. Josh Pruett finished 2015 with 60 total touchdowns and is on pace for that number in the regular season alone, accounting for six on Friday (two passing) behind 281 total yards (191 passing).

Liberty stat leaders:
Josh Pruett: 181 yards passing, 100 yards rushing, two passing TDs, four rushing TDs
Kole Orchard: 3 rec., 55 yards; 4 rushes, 63 yards; two TDs
Brenton Bush: 7 rec., 101 yards, TD

No. 5 Kickapoo 55, Parkview 26 – FINAL
No room to breathe for Parkview in this one. The Chiefs jumped on the Vikings for a 28-0 lead before Parkview cut that lead in half with 16 left in the half thanks to a 25-yard pass from Mario Sanchez to Gage Clark. But then Chris Lawson decided to ruin EVERYTHING for the hosts by tossing a 63-yard bomb to Corey Dye with time expiring for a 35-14 halftime lead. Lawson finished the half with an efficient 10-13, 165-yard, two-touchdown line. Maverick McGee stepped up in the opener, finishing with 163 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries.

Lexington 35, No. 6 Skyline 0 – FINAL
Skyline led 35-0 in the middle of the third quarter in a game that was really only close after the first 12 minutes when the Minutemen led 6-0. Lexington led 21-0 at the half behind scores from Lorenzo Crumble and Warren Sheppard. A 71-yard touchdown run from Alex Porras made the score 35-0 in the third. Tough start for the Tigers after starting 12-0 and giving up just 16.3 points per game all season last year.

No. 7 West Plains 42, Waynesville 0 – FINAL
This was one of the more interesting results of Friday night due to the unknowns surrounding both Ozark Conference teams. West Plains lost nine seniors from last year's team who garnered first- or second-team all-conference honors. Well, head coach Steve Ary's goal of reloading and not rebuilding is clearly coming to fruition. Keegan Hoopes ran for 288 yards and four touchdowns on 18 carries (16.0 yards per carry) in a runaway opening win.

No. 7 Mountain Grove 35, Aurora 21 – FINAL
It was payback for Mountain Grove at home Friday against Aurora after the 'Houn Dogs knocked off the Panthers 14-12 in last year's Class 3 quarterfinals. But it wasn't all Mountain Grove all night. Aurora led 7-0 after quarterback Payton Evans led a 65-yard touchdown drive that spanned nearly 10 minutes and ended with a pass to Wyatt Neff. Trystan Short would tie things 7-7 from five yards out but Evans answered with a four-yard touchdown to Preston Naylor. The Panthers answered back again, again and again with 21 unsanswered points into the fourth quarter on a touchdown by quarterback Carter Otwell and two from running back Trystan Short. The Panthers put the game away with an 11-play, 80-yard drive capped by another Otwell touchdown after Aurora had cut the lead to seven with 7:58 to play.

Mountain Grove stat leaders
Carter Otwell: 3-3, 45 yards; 22 carries, 159 yards, two TDs
Trystan Short: 21 carries, 91 yards, three TDs

No. 7 Lockwood 50, Liberal 21 – FINAL

No. 8 Nixa 19, Willard 13 – FINAL
Nixa treated alumni and Olympian Courtney Frerichs to a show fresh off her return from Rio but nearly collapsed late against Willard. The Eagles led 10-0 at the half and 16-0 in the third quarter after an 11-play, 70-yard touchdown drive. That lead jumped to 19-0 before Willard began chipping away. Kenny Chambers scored on a touchdown from Quinton Batson with 3:43 to play and the Willard defense forced an immediate three-and-out. The same two connected again for a 79-yard touchdown with 1:08 left to cut the Nixa lead to 19-13. After a failed onside kick, the Eagles turned the ball right back over to Willard with a fumbled snap. Willard marched to Nixa's 18, and then imploded with three unsportsmanlike conduct penalties that moved the ball back to their own 30 yard line, effectively ending things. Nicos Oropeza led Nixa's offense with 126 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown, a night highlighted by a 54-yard TD in the second quarter.

Hayti 26, No. 8 Thayer 0 – FINAL
Two defensive touchdowns helped Hayti cruise to a win over Thayer after a 12-0 halftime lead.

Camdenton 39, Hillcrest 33 – FINAL
Hillcrest squandered some early chances against Camdenton but nearly recovered from a 27-13 halftime deficit in a game that came down to an onside kick after Josh Powell returned a Lakers punt 71 yards for a touchdown with 41 seconds remaining. The Hornets wouldn't recover the subsequent onside attempt and Camdenton would hold on behind a big night from Jay Griffin, who had rushes of 40 and 62 yards in the first half, finishing with 199 yards and four touchdowns on 26 carries. Malachi Beckham cut an early 12-0 Lakers lead to 12-7 with a six-yard touchdown early on and Josh Powell scored his first of two touchdowns to again cut a double-digit Camdenton lead to 20-13 in the second quarter. Hillcrest quarterback Erik Savage went 48 yards on the ground to make a 27-13 score 27-21 in the third, but the Hornets wouldn't get any closer, with their biggest deficit coming at 39-21 with 4:37 to play.

Lebanon 31, Rolla 14 – FINAL
First-year Rolla head coach Jon Franks spent 11 years as the defensive coordinator at Lebanon and got to host his old team on opening night, trailing Will Christian's Yellow Jackets 17-0 at the half, 24-6 through three and 31-6 in the fourth quarter.

Ozark 28, Carthage 14 – FINAL
It didn't look good for Ozark early after fumbling on the second play of the game, a turnover that quickly turned into a Carthage touchdown as Keith Guest ran in from four yards out. Things got special in the second quarter when Ozark's Curt Gracey took a punt back 60 yards to tie the game 7-7. Ozark led 14-7 in the third after a 43-yard touchdown run by senior quarterback Jack Hulse. Carthage tied things up at 14, but Hulse scored again from one yard out to put the Tigers up 21-14 with under 10 minutes remaining. A gutsy fourth-and-four Ozark conversion from Carthage's 35 led to a 28-14 lead after Hulse dove in from one yard out once again for a late 14-point lead.

Neosho 42, Branson 21 – FINAL
Branson had a strong summer, winning the Parkview 7-on-7, but that success didn't carry over to the defensive side of the ball Friday at Neosho. The Wildcats pounded the Pirates for 630 total yards, highlighted by a huge night from Coleman Scott, who had 315 yards and three touchdowns through the air and 158 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Other Neosho stat leaders
Bryce Murphy: 5 rec., 170 yards, 2 TDs
Peyton Klier: 20 receiving yards, 50 rushing yards

Republic 27, Bolivar 18 – FINAL
Bolivar jumped out to an 18-7 lead over Republic and saw it all slip away after the Tigers began a stretch of 20 unanswered points late in the second quarter. Republic took the lead for good with 11:05 left in the third quarter after a nice 69-yard run by David Feil, who finished with 153 yards.

Bolivar stat leaders

Sechler: 24-36, 254 yards, TD
Garrison: 8 rec., 100 yards, TD

Irish quarterback Tyson Riley carried the ball 20 times for 56 yards and two touchdowns and Lincoln Jones picked off two Strafford passes. Catholic led 15-8 at the half.

Ava 42, Marshfield 13 – FINAL
One of this week's Game's of the Week, Ava overcame four first-half turnovers to run away from Marshfield in the second half. Marshfield got within 16-13 in the first half but couldn't keep up with the Bears once the turnovers stopped. Ava quarterback Caleb Johnson rushed for 55 yards and passed for 94 and Kelly McDonald led the Bears with 24 tackles.

Fair Grove 49, Buffalo 7 – FINAL
Fair Grove has a ton of firepower and it showed in Week 1. Dalton Cloyd was all over the stat sheet in this win, tallying over 250 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns (one rushing, one receiving, one kickoff return TD). Cloyd also picked off a pass and forced a fumble. Quarterback Brayden Lumley added three touchdown passes and a rush touchdown.

Rogersville 31, Springfield Central 6 – FINAL
The Wildcats pulled away early for the win over Central after a touchdown from Bronson Tavenner was immediately followed by a scoop and score after the Bulldogs fumbled on their first play from scrimmage, making the score 12-0 early. Rogersville led 18-0 at the half after a Weston Lawson touchdown.

Stockton 34, El Dorado Springs 14 – FINAL
Stockton quarterback Jake Wheeler tossed three touchdowns behind 163 yards passing and added another on the ground with 75 rushing yards.
