Bailey’s dedication toward the 800 culminated in a gold medal as she reached her goal of a 2:10 time to win the Class 5 event. While she only ran the 800 at state, Bailey also owned the area’s best time for the 400 (57.81) during the season. She’ll run collegiately at Tulsa. 

Ariel Okorie, Waynesville – CLICK HERE FOR MORE ON OKORIE

Okorie capped a decorated track and field career with four all-state finishes in Class 5. She was fourth in the high jump (5’4”), second in the long jump (18’5.75”) and second in the 300 hurdles (42.87) while recording a time of 14.19 to win the 100 hurdles. For her career, the Kansas State-bound Okorie posted 11 all-state performances at Waynesville.

The area’s top sprinter became the state’s best long jumper in May, registering a mark of 19’1” to win the Class 5 girls’ event. Her long jump feat was tops among all Classes at state this year. Williams proved she is still very fast, too, taking 4th in the 100 dash (11.99) and second in the 200 (25.04). Williams was No. 1 in the area in the 100, 200 and long jump this past spring.

Simply put, Workman is the best Class 1 distance runner in Missouri’s history. She swept the individual distance events (800, 1600, 3200) and anchored NCA’s first-place 4×800 relay team, to take home four gold medals for the second-straight year. Workman owns Class 1’s best time for the 800 (2:16.85), the 1600 (5:01.09) and the 3200 (10:53.38). Among all local competition, Workman has the best time in the 1600 and 3200 and third-best time in the 800.
