Hillary Chvatal earns first Valley Player of the Week honor

ST. LOUIS — Missouri State’s Hillary Chvatal earned her first career Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week award Monday, marking the fourth time a Lady Bear has won the award this season.

Chvatal averaged a double-double in two road victories, shooting 60 percent overall and 75 percent from beyond the arc while posting 14 points and 10 rebounds per outing. 

Sunday, the senior forward from Atwood, Kan., scored a career-high 17 points to go with 11 rebounds as the Lady Bears topped first-place Loyola. She shot 7-for-12 from the field and 3-of-4 from beyond the arc, adding two steals and a block. 

Friday at Bradley, Chvatal had 11 points and nine boards, including seven on the offensive end, while nabbing two steals and shooting 5-of-8 from the field.

Chvatal and the Lady Bears (11-7, 4-2 MVC) return to JQH Arena this weekend for games against Evansville at 7 p.m. Friday and Southern Illinois at 7 p.m. Sunday.
