SPOKANE, Mo. -- Spokane athletic director and head boys basketball coach Larry Brown has resigned his position effective at the end of the school year. The Spokane School Board accepted the resignation at Monday night's meeting.
"I resigned for personal reasons," said Brown. "I coached my freshman son (Christian Brown) this season and am looking forward to just being a dad."
Brown was 76-47 in five seasons at Spokane. The Owls finished 12-16 this season, dropping 13 of their last 16 games.
Brown previously was an assistant at Rogersville. He also coached at a private school in Florida and was the Baptist Bible College coach and athletic director.
"I'm looking to stay in education," said Brown. "I want to coach again, just not sure what level."
Brown's oldest son Tim is currently the head coach at Fair Grove.
