Evangel men jump to 11th nationally in NAIA-I poll

Springfield, Mo. -- The Evangel University men’s basketball moved up six spots to a #11 national ranking in NAIA-I. The #11 ranking matches Evangel’s highest national ranking this season and it matches their top national mark since joining NAIA-I in 2008-09.

The Crusaders are 19-5 and won both games they played last week with wins over Missouri Valley 68-44 and at Graceland 84-70. Evangel is in first place in the Heart of America conference with a 12-2 league record. They own a one-game lead over Culver-Stockton and MidAmerica Nazarene in the conference standings.

Also in the NAIA-I Top 25, HAAC member MidAmerica Nazarene (19-7) is ranked 22nd and Culver-Stockton (20-6) is tied for 23rd.

A complete listing of the national poll is available on the NAIA website: http://www.naia.org/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=27900&ATCLID=206372171

This week, the Crusaders are at Avila Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and host Culver-Stockton Saturday at the Ashcroft Center.

Saturday is Senior Day as Evangel’s senior players on the men’s and women’s teams will be honored between the women’s and men’s game. Tipoff of the women’s game is at 2 p.m.
