The Dadeville girls are currently 18 and 2, ranked 4th in the state in class 1. A big part of that success comes from senior guard MaryAnne Bergmann, who is averaging 21 points per game the Lady Bearcats. Bergmann also scored her 1,000th career point earlier this season despite suffering injuries earlier in her career. We caught up with Mary for more in this week's O-Zone Prep Spotlight.
MaryAnne, who has a twin sister Melody, is also very busy off the court. In addition to hanging out with her friends she is also the FCCLA Vice President, Fellowship of Christian Athletes leader and tutors kindergaten students for the A+ program.
FAVORITE ATHLETE - Jackie Stiles (She had a height disadvantage, but still managed to be one of the greatest basketball players aroud. She is my role model.)
FAVORITE MOVIE - Love and Basketball
FAVORITE MUSICAL ARTIST - Hunter Hayes (He is so cute!)
FAVORITE FOOD - My mom’s homemade lasagna.
FAVORITE ACTOR/ACTRESS - Ryan Gosling
FAVORITE TEAM - Notre Dame women, Mizzou men
MaryAnne plans to attend college where she looks to pursue a nursing degree.
"Which college I will go to is undecided as of right now, but I want to have a career in occupational therapy. I work with children every morning for my A+ program and love it, so I intend to work in pediatrics."
Her long term plans are pretty clear, but like any teenager she still has a lot to decide before leaving high school.
"Well for one, deciding where I am going to attend college! (haha) But, I would also like to maintain a high GPA, continue to get good grades, and to excel in basketball. I want to do the best that I can with the rest of the time I have at Dadeville before I graduate and move on with my future."
She claims to be pretty much an open book, but one thing people might not know is that she loves to write.
MaryAnne is also a standout on the softball diamond where she earned All District/Conference honors from 2010-2012.
Dadeville opened the season with 15 straight wins before falling to Stockton and later Walnut Grove. They'll continue Polk County League action Saturday against Humansville with just four games to go in the regular season.
