Drury's hot shooting Alex Hall closing in on school 3 point record

With Drury’s 78-37 win over Maryville Thursday the Panthers pulled into sole possession of 1st place in the GLVC West.  In the win senior Alex Hall scored 15 points, 2 points off his average of 17 points per game and if Hall can keep up his hot shooting the Panthers could be in for a memorable finish.
In His four years, Alex Hall has proven he can shoot it and make it from anywhere.

“I call him a long range sniper,” said Steve Hesser, Drury Head Coach.  “I don't shoot to hope it goes in, I shoot to make it,” said Alex Hall, Drury senior guard.

It's confidence that's made Hall Drury's second all time leader in 3's.  He also holds the Panthers record for most 3's in a game with 8.

“Once I get going, it's kind of hard to get out of my mind that I'm not going to shoot it,” said Hall.  “If I get any space at all, I'm going to shoot it.”

Hall earned his sharp shooting reputation at Kickapoo and made an immediate impact at Drury, scoring 33 points in his first game as a college freshman, making it easy for his coach Steve Hesser to give Hall the green light to let it fly.

“If he's open, he has the freedom to take shots and he has since his freshman year here,” said Hesser.  “The key is to get out there in the gym and work to where you can make it and coaches will let you shoot it.”

Alex usually draws the best defender and a lot of times the best smack talker, which only fuels his fire.

“I'll hit a shot and kind of look at him and they'll shake their head, get mad and say whatever they want, but it's my job to just let it go in one ear and out the other and keep playing my game,” explained Hall.

He isn't finished yet, with 315 career 3’s and Alex is only 37 treys away from setting the Drury record for most 3's in a career.

“Me and I think with everybody else never would have thought I would have been as successful as I have been and I'm just proud to be here and wouldn't change it for anything,” said Hall.

At the free throw line Hall is just as effective, he’s missed 3 free throws in 44 tries this season.
