Crusaders run away from Peru State



Springfield, MO (Evangel Sports Information)  -- Evangel made 13 of 25 shots in both the first half and second half as they defeated Peru State 69-52 Saturday at the Ashcroft Center.The Crusaders trailed most of the first half but put together an 11-2 run to end the half capped off with a three-pointer by Jayme Donnelly as time expired before halftime putting Evangel in front 30-26. The Crusaders outscored Peru State 39-26 in the second half.

J.J. Williams scored a season high 17 points for Evangel on 7 for 10 shooting from the field. Donnelly added 10 points while Korry Tillery came off the bench to score 8 points and grab 9 rebounds.

Peru State’s Kody Kirkpatrick led all scorers with 19 points.

Evangel moved back into a first place tie with MidAmerica Nazarene who lost 89-88 at Culver-Stockton Saturday.
The Crusaders play at Central Methodist Thursday for their next game. Tipoff is 7:30 p.m. in Fayette, Mo.
