O-Zone Prep Spotlight: Kyle Woods, Monett Basketball

MONETT, Mo. -- The Monett boys basketball team has battled through a tough 3-7 start to this season, but the Cubs have experienced great success overall this school year.  The football team upset previously undefeated Cassville in the district championship on their way to a class 3 state semifinal appearance.  Much of that success started with the Cubs' senior QB Kyle Woods, who we caught up with this week in our O-Zone Prep Spotlight.

The 6-3 lefty is a 4-year starter for the Cubs, averaging better than 16 points per game last season to earn All-Big 8 Conference honors.  Kyle also became Monett's all-time leading scorer on January 7th at home against Morrisville, passing Stephen Arnaud's record of 1,285 points with at least 14 games to go in his career.

Kyle hopes to become a physical therapist after high school, but would like to leave his mark on Monett before then.

"I would like to help underclassmen step up and be leaders."

In addition to his prowess for scoring, Kyle has also pulled down over 500 rebounds in his impressive prep career.
Kyle and the Cubs continue their season Friday night hosting rival Aurora.  Tune into to the Ozarks CW at 11:00 pm for highlights of the game.
