O-Zone Prep Spotlight: Tamiaya Henderson, Mt Vernon Basketball



Mount Vernon, Mo. -- Mount Vernon senior Tamiaya Henderson has a rare opportunity this season; to win a third state basketball championship.  The Lady Mountaineers forward was on state title teams as a freshman in 2010 and a junior in 2012.  We caught up with Tamiaya in this week's O-Zone Prep Spotlight.

Tamiaya enjoys sports in general, also a member of the Mount Vernon volleyball team, but also participates in FCCLA, FBLA, Spanish Club, Student Council and Art Club.

After high school Tamiaya plans to continue her education while playing basketball, and would like to some day become an elementary teacher.

Tamiaya and the Lady Mountaineers have some talented seniors from last year's championship to replace.  They're off to a 7-5 start with quality losses against Republic, Nixa, Carthage, Ozark and West Plains.  Most recently they knocked off rival Stockton 41-34 in a rematch of last year's state title game.

Catch Tamiaya and the the Lady 'Neers when they return to action January 8th, hosting Springfield Catholic.
