Republic's Kreul signs with C of O volleyball

REPUBLIC, Mo. - Republic senior 3-sport star Sarah Kreul signed to play volleyball at College of the Ozarks Thursday afternoon at the high school library.  Kreul is the latest Tigers athlete to take her talents to the next level.

"I was a lot more nervous than I thought," said Kreul.  "It was weird having everyone here, but it was all that I expected it to be."

Athletic Director Greg Garton commented on how Kreul is one of Republic's all-time most decorated athletes.  She has already earned All-State honors in volleyball, basketball and track.  She's won eight district titles, with a pair of volleyball state quarterfinal appearances, and a state basketball title last season.  Kreul credits all these accolades to hard work.

"It paid off in the books, but it also paid off with me as a person.  What I do on the court reflects what I do off the court, and I have become a very hard worker."

Ironic, considering C of O is known as "Hard Work U".

"I'm really excited about it.  I like the morals they have and I like that they teach kids hard work and how they help with your walk with Christ."

As a senior, Kreul posted some incredible stats, including 763 assists, 144 digs, 95 kills and 19 aces.

Kreul currently plays post for the class 4 top ranked Republic Lady Tigers, despite being oversized by most at 5'5".

"Even when I was little I was always the post.  Everyone else grew up and grew taller, so it was either you buck up and do it or you learn a new position, and I like the spot that I play."
