“One of our goals is to be at the top of our conference race, while giving ourselves a chance to compete for a district championship,” said Worley. “That will not be an easy task with all of the great teams returning in the SWCL but that is where we would like to be as a team in February.”
One key to meet this goal will be how quickly the team adjusts to the new coaching staff’s terminology, philosophy and new system. Part of this new system will be a half-court man defense and on offense continuous motion style of play.
“We want to be a team that puts an emphasis on the defensive end of the floor by playing great team defense and be a team that rebounds well,” said Worley. “On offense we will stress shot selection, guys knowing their roles while valuing the ball and limiting our turnovers.”
The SWCL will be very competitive, with state championships coming from Crane and Billings the past two years. Besides the previous state champs, Spokane, Blue Eye and Clever have several key players returning and will all battle for the top spot in the SWCL.
