Norwood boys look to keep momentum from last season

Springfield, Mo. (OzarksSportsZone.com)  -- Norwood looks to rebuild after having one of its best seasons in school history.  The Pirates will also have to replace all-time leading scorer Riley Jenkins and continue a stretch of three straight 20 win seasons.
Head Coach – Morris Jenkins, 14th season (212-146)

2011 Record- 27-3

Returnering Starters: 1 (J.D. Chadwell, senior)

Returning Lettermen: Derek Davis, senior; Brady Jenkins, sophomore

Players to Watch – Justin Greenfield, senior; Lincoln Connell, senior; Zayne Tate, junior; Quintin Richard, junior; Nathanael Gunter, junior; Braden Denney, sophomore.

2012 Outlook

The Pirates will look to find themselves just one year after losing all-time leading scorer Jenkins, and have the necessary pieces to do so. Seniors J.D. Chadwell and Derek Davis have been part of back to back district championship teams, as well as a run to the state quarterfinals last year before losing to eventual state champ Billings by three. Chadwell is definitely a player to keep an eye on. As he junior he averaged 10 points 4 assists and had 54 steals en route to garnering all-district honors. Sophomore wing Brady Jenkins will also be counted on for increased production this year. He saw varsity time last year in a back-up role.

Odds and Ends: Not all is lost in Norwood. The Pirates may struggle initially adjusting to new roles and the loss of four impact seniors. However, Coach Jenkins squad will again be dangerous come conference and district time.
