Mizzou’s men’s team picked up two recruits ranked in the ESPN Top 100.
Johnathan Williams III, a 6’9”, 210-pound forward, is ranked 37th by ESPN for the Class of 2012 and committed on Wednesday. Williams, who is from Memphis, Tenn., played for the USA at the U-17 World Championships this past summer. As junior at Southwind, Williams averaged 15.7 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.6 blocks per game as a junior.
Wes Clark is the other Top 100 recruit Missouri signed according to ESPN as he is ranked No. 74 overs. Clark is a 6’0, 175-pound guard from Romulus, Mich. He averaged 18 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 2.3 steals as a junior.
Torren Jones, a 6’8, 215-pound forward from Chandler, Ariz. was Frank Haith’s final signing on the first day of the early signing period. Jones averaged 19.6 points and 10.6 rebounds as a junior last season.
The Women’s Basketball program’s three signees were Kayla McDowell of Cincinatti, Ohio, Jordan Frericks of Quincy, Ill and Sierra Michaelis of Mercer, Mo.
McDowell is a 6’2 forward who averaged 13.7 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.2 steals per game as a junior. Frericks, a 6’1 guard/forward, has led her team to two consecutive state titles in Illinois and averaged 16.1 points, 8.1 rebounds and 5.4 steals per game as a junior. Michealis, a 5’10 guard, has a shot to become the all-time leading scorer for the state of Missouri this year as a senior.
