Mizzou basketball programs pick up three commits each

The Univeristy of Missouri Men’s and Women’s Basketball programs both signed three players on the first day of the early signing period.

Mizzou’s men’s team picked up two recruits ranked in the ESPN Top 100.

Johnathan Williams III, a 6’9”, 210-pound forward, is ranked 37th by ESPN for the Class of 2012 and committed on Wednesday. Williams, who is from Memphis, Tenn., played for the USA at the U-17 World Championships this past summer. As junior at Southwind, Williams averaged 15.7 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.6 blocks per game as a junior.

Wes Clark is the other Top 100 recruit Missouri signed according to ESPN as he is ranked No. 74 overs. Clark is a 6’0, 175-pound guard from Romulus, Mich. He averaged 18 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 2.3 steals as a junior.
Torren Jones, a 6’8, 215-pound forward from Chandler, Ariz. was Frank Haith’s final signing on the first day of the early signing period. Jones averaged 19.6 points and 10.6 rebounds as a junior last season.

The Women’s Basketball program’s three signees were Kayla McDowell of Cincinatti, Ohio, Jordan Frericks of Quincy, Ill and Sierra Michaelis of Mercer, Mo.
