Evangel wins 3rd straight




Springfield, Mo. – The Evangel men’s basketball team improved to 3-1 with a 73-65 win over Mid-Continent (Ky.) Thursday at the Ashcroft Center.
Evangel trailed by 10 midway through the first half but went on a 18-4 tear and took a 41-34 lead at halftime.
 

Crusaders guard Victor Agbasi came off Evangel’s bench to lead the team with 15 points while Jayme Donnelly added 14. Stephen Cotten had 10 points and 8 rebounds for Evangel.

The Cougars (4-2) were led by Gavin Scott’s 24 points.

Evangel owned a 37-27 rebound advantage in the game as they won their third straight game.

Earlier in the night, Missouri Baptist defeated Baptist Bible 83-71 in the first game of the EU/BBC Classic.
 
Friday, the games shift to Dowell Field House at BBC where Baptist Bible will face Mid-Continent at 4 p.m. then Evangel plays Missouri Baptist at 6 p.m.
