And only the elite-8 in the state remain after Monday night's district championships, essentially the sectional round under the previous playoff format. The night certainly saw some upsets with undefeated Mountain Grove and Cassville sucombing to conference opponents they had beaten earlier in the season.

District 6: Top ranked Lee's Summit West ran out to a big early lead and held on late 61-24 to end Parkview's great season. Anthony Hays and the Vikings lose QB Landon Ruff and RB Cole Jenkins to graduation next season, but return a slew of talented young players, and will once again figure in the Ozark Conference race...this time not as a surprise.
District 5: The Ozark Tigers claim the district championship 28-21 over Nixa. The second victory over the Eagles was much closer for Ozark. After leading 21-0 at the half, Nixa rallied for 21 second half points to fall just short. Ozark now travels top top ranked Lee's Summit West in a Saturday afternoon affair that figures to have many eyes watching.
District 4: This time the rematch proved costly for Lebanon. OC rival Camdenton came down to Jacket Country to hand Lebanon its first loss to the Lakers in five years, 42-21. The Lakers once again have gotten hot at the right time, going on a 6-game streak to reach the quarterfinals much like last year's seven game streak. Camdenton will now host 5th ranked Parkway Central Saturday.
CLASS 4
District 7: Bolivar's second meeting with Harrisonville went much better than their 26-0 week 3 loss. A loss none the less as the Liberators fell 13-6 in a defensive showdown. This despite each team scoring on its opening possession. Bolivar finishes 9-3, and can now beginning planning for next season featuring senior-to-be QB Rafe Peavey, verballed to Arkansas for 2014.
District 4: Webb City's quest for a 3rd straight state title continued with a 55-10 win over Hillcrest. Winning breeds winning, and the Cardinals can't figure out how to lose, or really even come close to losing. Coach Rod and company will entertain 3rd ranked and undefeated Sullivan Saturday, but don't expect the Cardinals to be shaking in their cleats.

District 3: Fourth seed Eldon continues its upset run with a 42-7 win over Osage. Eldon will go for another upset Saturday at Monett.

District 4: Defending state champ Lamar seems to be getting stronger each week. The Tigers roll on to a showdown rematch with MV-BT/Liberty after a 62-0 throtteling of Butler.
District 3: Add MV-BT/Liberty to the list of "second time is a charm" teams. The Eagles ended Mountain Grove's undefeated run with a 21-7 district championship win. Acklin to Denton was the big play, and they'll need a lot more of that Saturday when the Eagles look to avenge last year's quarterfinal loss to Lamar.
CLASS 1
District 3: It was the Logan Bryan Show as Skyline rolled 41-14 over Cass-Midway into the Tigers' second straight class 1 quarterfinal. The Tigers will get their second shot at Tipton Saturday, a team who beat them 35-14 just three weeks ago.
District 2: Miller shook off an earlier season close call Monday night with a convincing 39-6 win over Lockwood. The Cardinals will now host perennial class 1 power Valle Catholic Saturday seeking some payback for years past.
And then there were eight! We are down to the nitty gritty of the high school football season. The Ozarks is still well represented with expected contenders (Webb City and Lamar) and with upset specials (Monett, Camdenton, MV-BT/Liberty). The Wildcats failed to find the endzone for the first time in at least nine years. The Cubs will now host Eldon in Saturday's quarterfinals where they will now become the favorite to advance.
