The MSU quartet of Anna Ahlin, Renata Sander, Roni Balzam and Andrea Uzcateguibrought home the women’s lone relay win with a time of 3:58.06.
Five different women won an event on Friday, starting with sophomore Suzanne Van Rensburg in the 1000 free (10:37.91). Balzam picked up a victory in the 200 fly (2:06.42), followed by a first-place finish in the 200 back (2:05.47) for Ahlin. JuniorHannah Molden was .19 seconds off her season best to place first in the 500 free (5:12.60). Sander finished off the day with a win in the 200 breast (2:20.84).
The men’s 400 medley relay that consisted of Matthew Wilson, Isaac Springer,Michal Bulak and Vitalii Baryshok jumpstarted the Bears’ dominating performance. They won the event with a time of 3:24.84.
Senior captain Daan Jansen recorded the Bears’ second fastest time in the 1000 free this season to pick up the win in the first individual event. Sophomore Chris Carpenter clocked in at 1:43.81 in the 200 free to rack up first-place points for the MSU men.
Baryshok and fellow sophomore Paul Le won back-to-back events, winning the 50 free (21.48) and 200 IM (1:53.00), respectively. Le’s time in the 200 IM represents the Bears’ top time this season, giving him the fastest mark in four different events.
Sophomore diver Zach Wheeler continues to improve and picked up his first collegiate victory in the 3-meter diving competition with a score of 275.18.
After the first break, junior Colin Hill registered the Bears’ second fastest time this season in the 200 fly (1:53.85) to win the event. Le took care of business in the 100 free (46.20) to register his second individual win of the day.
Wilson took the spot in the 200 back, while junior Jake Coleman won the 500 free with a time of 4:49.97.
Sophomore Garrett Nevels won the 1-meter diving competition (273.83) and newcomer Isaac Springer won the 200 breast (2:05.89) to close out the individual events.
Missouri State completed the men’s sweep with a 400 free relay win. The quartet of Le, Baryshok, Caleb Schuermann and Isaac McKnight recorded a time of 3:08.01.
The MSU women moved to 11-2 all-time against the Purple Aces, while the men’s win at Wyttenbach Pool extended the Bears’ winning streak to 16 in dual meets with Evansville.
