Decided in the last event, the Glendale Falcons claimed the 2012 Southwest Missouri Swimming Championships Thursday with a six-point win over Kickapoo.
After taking the 200 free relays, Glendale needed to take the finale of the event, the 400 free relays. The team of Mace Wilson, Perry Smith, Alex Allphin and Will Brand beat the Kickapoo Chiefs by almost a second thanks to a time of 3:19.22.
Thanks to the 400 relay win, the Falcons tallied 277-points for the Championships. Kickapoo finished second with 271-points and Springfield Central was third with 210-points.
The Chiefs Andrew Workman with a great win earlier in the 500 free. Workman finished in 4:53.87; almost a full second in front of Central's Evan Petrich and his time of 4:54.70.
Kickapoo's Taylor Strong almost added another Chiefs win in the 100 backstroke. Strong lost by .28 of a second to Conner Sutton of Ozark.
Missouri's state championships are Nov. 9 and 10 in St. Peter's.
