Final regular season soccer Power Rankings

There was a lot of movement in this week's final regulars season soccer power rankings with no team remaining in the same spot as last week.

1. (3) Springfield Catholic (21-4)
Catholic began its quest for back to back state titles last night with a dominating 10-0 victory over Fair Grove. The Irish have suffered four losses, all at the hands of teams not in Class 1, and will take on Greenwood for the district championship Thursday.

2. (6) Rolla (21-4)
The Ozark Conference champs have won 15 of their last 16 games, highlighted by wins over Kickapoo and Joplin. Rolla mercy ruled Marshfield last night 10-0 to advance to the Class 2 – District 10 title game against Helias Catholic; a team the Bulldogs defeated 4-3 back in September.

3. (4) Glendale (15-6)
The Falcons continue to be one of the hottest team in the area as they have won seven straight, including wins over Nixa and Rolla. Glendale topped Branson last night 3-1 in the semifinals of Class 3 – District 11. Falcon head coach Jeff Roger’s picked up career win number 400 on the boys’ side of his career, and number 695 overall in just 1,000 career games. Glendale will take on Nixa for the district championship, a rematch of last year’s district final in which the Eagles won 5-0.

4. (1) Kickapoo (19-3)
Last week Kickapoo had their 11 game winning streak snapped by the Ozark Conference champions Rolla. Kickapoo opens play in Class 3 – District 12 tonight against Central. Expect the Chiefs to have a rematch with Joplin in the title game.

5. (2) Joplin (20-2-1)
Joplin also had an 11 game winning streak snapped by the Rolla Bulldogs. The Eagles open up Class 3 – District 12 play with Parkview tonight, a team they defeated 6-0 on September 27. The Eagles are looking forward to welcoming the Chiefs for the district title Friday.

6. (5) Nixa (18-6-1)
Nixa has won nine of its last 11, with losses coming to Joplin 2-3 and Glendale 0-1. However, the Eagles will have a chance to avenge the Glendale loss thanks to a win over Ozark last night in the Class 3 – District 11 semifinals. This will mark the third consecutive season that the two squads will meet to decide a district championship, with the teams splitting the previous two meetings.

7.(8) Carthage (17-8)
Despite losing three of its last five games, Carthage is still the favorite to win Class 2 – District 12. The Tigers open play with Webb City tonight, and will likely play the district host Carl Junction Bulldogs in the title game Thursday. Carthage is looking for a fifth consecutive district title.

8.(9) Willard (14-9)
Willard has won five of its last six including a win over Rogersville, their opponent in Wednesday’s Class 2 – District 11 championship game. The Tigers defeated the Cats in both regular season meeting this year. In fact, dating back to 2009, Willard is a perfect 6-0 against Rogersville.

9.(NR) Rogersville (16-8)
Rogersville has eight of its last nine games. Unfortunately, the last team to beat the Wildcats, Willard, is the team that stands between them and the Class 2 – District 11 championship. The first meeting Willard won 2-1, and the second game, coming in the Willard Tournament, saw Willard win on penalty kicks. Rogersville is hoping that the third time is the charm against the Tigers.

10. (NR) Greenwood (13-10)
The Blue Jays have more losses than any other team in the poll, however their strength of schedule is through the roof for a Class 1 team. Greenwood owns wins over Ozark, Central, and Waynesville; all Class 3 schools. The Jays defeated New Covenant in a chippy game last night 7-1 to advance to the Class 1 – District 11 title game against Catholic.
