Kaley Lyons Named HAAC Volleyball Player of the Week



Springfield, MO (Evangel Sports Information)  -- Evangel University volleyball player Kaley Lyons was named the Heart of America conference Player of the Week by the league today.

The senior from Springfield (Glendale HS) averaged 5.7 kills per set and had a hitting percentage of .466 as Evangel went 2-0 last week. Lyons had 15 kills in the Crusaders’ 3-0 win over John Brown (Ark.) on Tuesday; then turned in 25 kills in Evangel’s 3-1 victory over College of the Ozarks on Thursday night. She also had 15 blocks in the two matches covering seven sets.

The award marks the fourth time Lyons has been named Player of the Week in the league and the 14th time in her career she has won the award.The Crusaders are 20-13 and tied for second in the conference with a 6-2 league record. They finish the regular season Tuesday night at Central Methodist.
 
Evangel has clinched home court advantage for at least the opening round of the conference tournament that starts Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Ashcroft Center.
