Springfield, Mo. (For OzarksSportsZone.com) -- The Central Lady Bulldogs beat New Covenant on Tuesday night in their final home game of the season. Both the Central JV and varsity won in two sets.
It was also Senior Night at Central so the evening began in celebration of Central’s only senior, outside hitter Hannah Steinmetz. Steinmetz also had a spectacular performance in both sets to round up her volleyball career at Central High School.
“Obviously with Senior Night your seniors are going to stand out, which is Hannah Steinmetz. She did a good job and she had a solid performance, which she usually does,” said Central coach Molly Illum.
The first set began with Central jumping out to a six-point lead. The Lady Bulldogs maintained comfortable lead throughout the first set, and every girl contributed to their success on the court. Ultimately, Central won 25-12.
New Covenant improved during the second set, trying to come back. However, Central locked up the victory and the girls celebrated their success and Senior Night with cake and cheers from their fellow classmates.
“It’s the last home game and I think that sometimes we can get caught up in the emotions. We just did a good job coming out and doing our job. We knew what we needed to do and we took care of business,” said Illum.
