Power Rankings: Volleyball for Oct. 8

The top of the rankings remained constant this week with all of the top seven teams holding onto their spots.

1. (1) Ozark (15-6)
Ozark remains in the top spot this week, despite losing to St. Joseph’s Academy last Saturday. The Tigers rebounded with a win against St. Teresa’s Academy, as well as defeating COC-Large foes Nixa and Neosho. This week Ozark takes on Webb City and Republic. The battle of Tigers will help decide the conference title.

2.  (2) Fair Grove (20-3)
A new week, but the same spot for Tonya Peck’s Eagles. Fair Grove has won 11 straight games, including a huge win over Strafford last week. This week Fair Grove will head to Ash Grove for a big Mid-Lakes game with the Lady Pirates, before hosting Marionville.

3.  (3) Carl Junction (17-4-3)
The Bulldogs streak is up to 10 straight, after wins over Lamar and Cassville last week. Carl Junction steps out of conference to visit Neosho before taking on Monett in Big 8 action.

4. (4) Billings (14-2-1)
The Lady Wildcats continue to play great volleyball in 2012. Last week Billings defeated a tough Marionville team in nonconference play. Coming up this week for Coach Cheek’s squad is road contests against Blue Eye and Verona.

5. (5) Republic (13-4)
Tigers remain idle in this week, despite wins over Nixa and Neosho. Republic has a tough week of COC play ahead of them with Ozark and Willard. After next week the conference title race will have more clarity.

6. (6) Buffalo (19-3)
Buffalo continued its impressive run by beating Catholic last week to remain unbeaten in COC-Small play. Freshman Haley Gilpin leads a balanced Bison team that has four players with more than 80 kills.

7. (7) Willard (19-2-1)
As expected, the Lady Tigers defeated Branson and Carthage last week to remain unbeaten in COC-Large play. Next week Willard visits Webb City, before welcoming Republic into town for a match-up between conference leaders.
