Liberators blitz Wildcats

The Bolivar Liberators easily handled the Rogersville Wildcats 56-14 on Friday night.

Bolivar (5-2) would score early and score often, led by senior Kolby Follis.  Follis would score on Bolivar's first play from scrimmage to put the Liberators ahead 7-0 early in the first quarter.  On Bolivar’s next possession, junior Rafe Peavey connected with senior Brad Wolf on a touchdown pass to give the Liberators a 14-0 lead.

Follis would dominate the first quarter by scoring 3 touchdowns, making the score 27-0 in the Liberators' favor.

”It felt good; we had good terrain to run on, it wasn’t as wet as I thought it would be,” Follis said. “Our offensive line made some big holes for me to run through and then you just make people miss. Our team made some really good plays tonight, Rafe and I connect a lot.  It takes a toll on your body, I’m gonna sleep good tonight.”

Peavey had 229 yards passing with 2 touchdowns for the Liberators.

“We came out on fire from the start,” Peavey said. “Our guys caught the ball and Kolby did a phenomenal job with it on the ground.  It’s our goal to score 50 every game and our coaches prepared us well for tonight’s game.”

Rogersville’s only answer came in the form of senior Evan Gruener.  His two second-quarter touchdowns were all the scoring Rogersville (2-5) could muster. Bolivar would score two touchdowns of its own to make the halftime score 42-14. Gruener would have 117 yards rushing and 115 yards passing for the game.

Bolivar held Rogersville scoreless in the second half while scoring two touchdowns.

Follis would finish the game with 4 rushing touchdowns, an 87-yard touchdown reception and 283 yards rushing.

Bolivar will host the Springfield Catholic Irish on Oct. 12. Rogersville will travel to Hollister to meet up with the Tigers.
