SPRINGFIELD, MO - And then there were seven; Ozark, Webb City, Cassville, Mountain Grove, Strafford, Miller and Sarcoxie escaped Friday night as the Ozarks' lone remaining undefeated teams.

COC SMALL - Is it safe to say Bolivar is back?  The Liberators won their fourth straight game Friday night, 56-14 at defending state champ Rogersville.  Kolby Follis had a career night with 283 yards and 4 touchdowns.  Catholic kept pace in the conference with a narrow 24-12 win at Buffalo.  The Liberators host the Irish next week in what will by all intents and purposes decide the COC Small title.  Reeds Spring was impressive once again in a 43-14 homecoming win against Hollister.  Marshfield went out of conference, falling 48-14 against McDonald County.

COC LARGE - The "Backyard Brawl" trophy goes back to the east side of Christian County after class 5 7th ranked Ozark's 41-21 win over class 5 9th ranked Nixa.  The 7-0 Tigers now prepare for a trip to 2-time defending state champ Webb City, who shut out Neosho 55-0 for its 88th straight regular season win.  Carthage picked up a 48-14 win at Branson.  Republic continued its recent dominance of Willard, 40-14 led by junior lefty QB Zach Hall's 3 touchdowns.

BIG 8 - Cassville kept its regular season win streak in tact with an apparently easy 42-0 blasting of East Newton.  The Wildcats are trucking along despite some key injuries at the skill positions.  Mt Vernon eaked out a 20-14 win over Aurora.  Lamar realized its full potential with a 42-6 win over Monett.  Seneca improved its district stock moving up a class to beat Carl Junction 54-14.

OZARK CONFERENCE - Hillcrest got the week started with a 29-19 comeback win over previously unbeaten Parkview Thursday night.  Senior QB Jonah Hill led the charge despite a pretty severe ankle injury.  Friday night, Lebanon stole the show with a 28-24 win at Joplin; 3 more touchdowns for Brock West.  Kickapoo lit up the scoreboard, 42-12 at West Plains.  Glendale picked up its second win, holding off winless Rolla 28-26 led by the rushing duo of Justin Starks and DeShawn Cooper, who combined for over 200 yards rushing on 26 carries.  Camdenton appears to be turning it on late with a 36-0 shutout of Waynesville.

SOUTH CENTRAL ASSOCIATION - Mountain Grove (7-0) marches on with a convincing 48-7 win over Salem (5-2).  The running back duo of Tyler Collins and Bobby Otwell combined for over 300 rushing yards and six touchdowns.  MV-BT/Liberty notched its 5th win, 47-6 over Cabool.  Thayer bounced Ava 29-22.  Willow Springs continued its hot play with a 37-0 blanking of Houston.

MID-LAKES - Strafford (7-0) can now stand atop them all in the 7-team Mid-Lakes Conference.  The Indians held off previously unbeaten Skyline (6-1) 41-32 Friday night.  Fair Grove's defense stepped up big in a 14-6 defeat of Marionville.  Ash Grove bounced back with a 41-12 win at Pleasant Hope.  Stockton's struggles continued with a 39-0 loss to Butler.

SPRING RIVER VALLEY - It still seems as though Miller is the undefeated team getting the least attention, but I'm guessing Coach Baldwin doesn't mind.  The Cardinals blitzed Jasper 48-7 improving to 7-0.  Sarcoxie also moved to 7-0 with a 41-20 over Liberal.  Miller visits Sarcoxie week 9 in case you were wondering.  Diamond took care of Greenfield 20-7 in the other conference matchup.

NON-CONFERENCE - Central fell back to Earth with a 49-19 loss to Nevada.  Lockwood fell 54-30 at McAuley Catholic.  El Dorado Springs got the offense going again in a 50-30 win ove reeling Pierce City.

A lot of great games on tap the next couple weeks.  Week 7 is that point when teams and fans can start to drag.  But beginning next week expect the intensity to return as teams put their focus on key points in the new district seeding race.
