West Plains had the game’s first touchdown in the middle of the second quarter.  After working the ball to within yards of the Glendale endzone, quarterback Jacob Mitchell made a short pass to Rowdy Robinson, who pushed past the Glendale defense to score.

Jacob Womack stepped up on the try to take the kick for West Plains, but the defensive line broke just as he came over the ball, allowing Glendale’s Jared Hood to block the point.

A touchdown behind and scoreless, Rogers knew he needed to get his Glendale teammates’ heads into the game.
“We had a lot of mental mistakes in the first half,” said Rogers. “It was really difficult but we ended up getting in it and coming back.”

Several minutes after the Zizzers’ touchdown, Rogers answered back, scoring the Falcons’ first touchdown with a well-blocked running play.  Kicker Derek Roberts followed up, putting the ball through the uprights for the extra point.

Glendale, already one point ahead, scored another touchdown in the third quarter with a beautiful 30-yard run down the middle of the field by Starks.  Roberts again booted home the extra point.

Midway through the fourth quarter, West Plains managed to get within yards of the Glendale endzone.  Inch by inch, yard by yard, they had worked the ball up the field, and now they only had three yards to go.  Mitchell passed to running back Trey Turner, who only got a finger on it, fumbling and turning the ball over.

The Glendale defense played an exceptional game after the first half, shutting down many of West Plains’ offensive plays and creating plays of their own.

“Our defense played a heck of a game. Every time we’d lose the ball, they’d get it right back for us,” said Rogers.  “We had to go through some adversity in the beginning… but [the defense] played an overall good game for us.”
