Superstitions run deep for Drury basketball

Springfield, Mo. (  -- Superstitions run deep for athletes and teams and the Drury men's basketball team is no different. Watch the video above and read below to hear about some of the things the Panthers have to do to get ready for games.

Cameron Adams, SO forward - He eats pizza rolls and also likes to bug Brandon Lockhart.  "Slam Cam" likes to keep the mood light and have fun.

Mael Amenyedzi, JR forward - Likes to listen to (and occassionally sing) French rap.

Lonnie Boga, JR guard - Doesn't really have one, but listens to the same play list before every game.

Kameron Bundy, FR guard - During warmups he stretches in the same place every time.

Ian Carter, JR forward - In an attempt to bring back some late 80's, early 90's flavor "the Fresh Prince of Drury" rocks the high top juice fade.  He also makes sure to "flatten his shoe laces".

Derek Daniels, SO forward - Subway oven roasted chicken breast on Italian herbs bread.

Ben Fisher, SO guard - The Nixa product has grown a mustache and enjoys touching it a lot.

Assistant Coach Steven Gum - He used to always drink a 1-liter of Mtn. Dew and 2 bags of hot peanuts before a game.  Now he just does it before home games.

Alex Hall, SR guard - He doesn't like to get "too focused".  Alex's favorite pastime is trying to bug his buddy Brandon Lockhart.  Mr. Hall is also notorious, even by other teams, for taking the first shot of the game.  He calls it a "heat check".  Ian Carter says he gets the tip and finds Alex.  This is a 4-year thing.

Head Coach Steve Hesser - Says he has none.  Everyone else says he has tons, including wearing the same "squeaky" shoes every game this season.  The team has vowed to chip in $10 each to buy him some new shoes after they win the national championship.

Riley Jenkins, FR guard - Used to always shake hands with his brother.

Brandon Lockhart, SR guard - Listens to a confidential play list.  Oh yeah, and he's worn the same pair of socks during the 22-game winning streak.  He only changes socks when the team loses.  The good news is he does wash them between games.  Ian Carter said he got a hole in them one time and had a minor freak out.

Drake Patterson, SO guard - Drinks a whole bottle of juice before every game. The crazy thing is he stocked up earlier this season and has exactly one bottle left.

Shane Rudman, JR guard - Must have a turkey and cheese sandwich on white bread.  The last time he didn't, he got sick.

Nick Shelbar, FR guard/forward - Eats a candy bar, usually Snickers.

Teddy Simniok, SR forward - The main thing he does is say a prayer before every game asking the Lord to help him do his best and make his dad proud.
