On Wednesday night, Strafford won the battle of the Indians as they finished off the Indians from Seneca 70-50 in a Class 3 sectional round matchup.

“Anytime you can keep playing feels great,” said Strafford coach Mike Wilson. “We have been fortunate to win three districts in a row now and we know that winning at this time of year feels good.”
Strafford used a full-court press for most of the game to stifle the Seneca offense and contain, for the most part, the reigning Big 8 Player of the Year in Kyler Ng.
Strafford only turned the ball over three times in the first half and used their hot shooting to pull away from Seneca early in the first half and never looked back from there.
“Everybody at this time of year is really good,” said Wilson. “We just played really well and took them out of anything they wanted to do.”
Strafford led 19-7 after the first quarter and never let off the gas pedal by forcing turnovers and making shots.
“We shot the ball well and attacked the basket like we wanted to,” said Wilson. “I feel pretty good about the way we are playing.”
Eight players scored for Strafford with none of them scoring less than five points. Their leading scorer came off the bench, which was sophomore Grant Boswell, who had 16 points. Blake Alexander and Jacob Wade helped out with 14 and 12 points, respectively.
“He’s never taken a shot he didn’t like,” said Wilson about Boswell. “It’s not secret he can shoot but he works at it but he also does it at both ends of the floor.”
Seneca ends their season with a record of 21-8. They were led in Wednesday night’s game by Kyler Ng with 18 points, who scored most of his points late. Chance Smith chipped in 13 points of his own. Seneca will lose six seniors for next year’s team.
Strafford improves to 24-4 and will play Fatima, who is 27-1, in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
“We just need to keep doing what we are doing,” said Wilson. “We got to block out and rebound better and just keep doing what we are doing and do it better.”
